CLOTHWEIGHT / SHIPPING & DUTY
Shipping & Duty

Shipping & duty, included.

The price on the product page is the price at your door. There is no second bill, no brokerage fee, and no invoice from a courier you never hired.

Every cost breakdown on this site carries the same line: shipping and duty, to your door. It is not a surcharge added at checkout; it is part of the price of the garment, printed where you can check it. When a Clothweight parcel crosses a border, the duty is already paid. The courier who brings it to your door is the courier we hired, and the only person they can bill is us.

What happens after you order

Why duty is included

Import duty is the tax a country charges when goods cross its border. Most shops leave it with you: the parcel arrives, the courier collects the duty plus a handling fee, and the price you thought you paid turns out to be an opening bid. We find that dishonest. The duty is part of what a garment costs to put on your back, so it sits in our cost breakdown — $27 on the three-piece suit, visible on the product page — instead of in your letterbox.

The returns half of the deal

Returns are accepted within 30 days on unworn garments. The size-exchange reserve line in every cost breakdown funds the first exchange, so the policy is paid for in advance rather than hoped for afterwards. Worn garments cannot return — tweed takes on the shape and scent of its wearer quickly — but an unworn jacket that is wrong for you goes back without an argument.

Where the price does not move

No sales, no codes, no seasonal markdown theatre. The price is the price on the first day and the last. If a cost line changes — cloth, freight, duty — the page changes, and the change is printed next to the number that changed.
